我（們）的小菜圃

（我們分到的一小塊地）

搬來COMO就一直期待，可以分到一小塊地種花種菜，到目前為止，還沒花錢買過任何種子，Sage是開幕那天分到的，其他的都是從平常飲食的蔬果中取得的，而且他們都是被統一對待，感覺我（們）真是非常不用心照顧這一小塊田地，並沒有事先規劃跟分區，所以現在種子埋在土裡，都不是很確定確切的種植位置，或許也是經驗不足吧！雖然我一直認為親身去栽種是一種自自然不過與土地發生關係的方法，也好幾次把community garden用在設計裡，但是過去住在台北，要有任何一片小土地實在是種奢求。

所以今天就趕緊閱讀整理一番（下面是我的小筆記，BT請仔細閱讀），青椒、哈密瓜、番茄還有Sage，都有長不出來的危機，晚上對青椒、哈密瓜、番茄來說好像還是太冷了，哈密瓜可能也覺得水分太多了，不想發芽。種青蔥實在非常簡單有很有成就感，就只是把蔥白倒插在土壤裡，你看才幾天功夫，他們就開始往上長出了好長一截。高麗菜也是意外的驚喜，雖然現在有點太熱了，其實原來它只是我要埋在土裡的廚餘，但是沒想到它竟然自己生根了，就讓它自立更生囉！

明天要去Farmer’s Market添購一些種子或是小苗。

蔥

• 土質及溫度：Good fertility, adequate soil moisture and cool temperatures aid development.
• 照顧

- Keep onions free from weeds by shallow cultivation and hoeing.

- To develop long, white stems for green onions, slightly hill the row by pulling the loose soil toward the onions with a hoe when the tops are 4 inches tall.

• 收成：Pull green onions anytime after the tops are 6 inches tall.

青椒

• 不耐低溫
• 照顧：Peppers thrive in a well-drained, fertile soil that is well supplied with moisture
• 收成：cut rather than pulled off

番茄

• 不耐低溫
• 照顧

- Hoe or cultivate shallowly to keep down weeds without damaging roots. Black plastic or organic materials are suitable for mulching.

- Water the plants thoroughly and regularly during prolonged dry periods.

哈密瓜（Cantaloupe, Muskmelon）

• 溫度及水分：If the weather and soil are not warm and the soil moisture level moderate, the seeds do not germinate and the plants do not grow.
• 間隔：Plant seeds one inch deep and thin the seedlings 18 to 24 inches apart or the equivalent (two plants every 36 inches or three plants every 48 inches in the hill system). Space rows at least 5 feet apart.
• 收成：

- When muskmelons are ripe, the rind changes from a green to tan or yellow between the netting.

- Harvest early in the day after the plants are dry and be careful not to damage the vines.

鼠尾草（Sage）

• 長得慢，發芽需時九天
• Harvest lightly in the first year and no later than the beginning of September.
• You’ll want to pick the leaves (usually after the second year) before or at blooming, which usually occurs in midsummer.
• Then cut back the stems after your sage blooms.

蒜（Garlic）

• Plant individual garlic cloves (not garlic heads) with the pointed end up after the first frosts.
• The garlic clove should be inserted about 2 inches deep and 1 foot apart.
• When the flower stalks appear, cut them off; otherwise you won’t get many garlic cloves. When the leaves begin to turn brown and yellow (about midsummer), you can uproot your garlic.

不確定品種：台灣高麗菜（不是美國人的cabbage，也不是Chinese Cabbage）、番薯，不確定是Sweet Potato（Ipomoea batatas）還是Yam（Dioscorea spp.）還有對面印度老伯給的豆豆種子，長得真好，但是我實在不知道那到底是什麼。
